HA-NCX77 Noise Canceling Headphones
JVC HA-NCX77 Intraaural Black:
The official marketing text of JVC HA-NCX77 Intraaural Black as supplied by the manufacturer

The HANCX77 is JVC's first in-ear style noise canceling headphones reflecting JVC's commitment to style and technology. It cancels up to an amazing 80% (more than 14dB at 120Hz) of background noise, and also features a unique contoured canal design earpiece that's slightly angled, allowing a natural and secure fit that provides maximum sound isolation. Because of the superb ambient noise seal, precise acoustic coupling to the eardrum can be employed, thereby lowering the volume required to achieve the full sonic impacat. The HANCX77 also features a monitor function that allows users to mute the sound for conversation or listening to announcements. Provided accessories include three different sizes ear pieces, dual plug adaptor, soft carrying case, and one AAA battery which runs the unit for approximately 70 hours.

Ear coupling *
Ear coupling describes the way in which headphones or earphones stay attached to, or inside, the ear. There are three common types of ear coupling: circumaural, supra-aural and intra-aural. Circumaural headphones enclose your ears with large pads that suppress external noise. Supra-aural headphones are typically more lightweight and sit on top of the ears with small pads. Intra-aural headphones come in two basic designs and neither style sits on the head itself. The first are ear buds, which sit just outside of the ear canal, on top of your ear lobes. The second type is actually inserted directly into the ear canal and offers some external noise suppression.
Headphone frequency *
The range of frequencies (low to high sounds) that the headphones can produce.
8 - 24000 Hz
Headphone sensitivity
90 dB
The effective resistance of an electric circuit or component to alternating current, arising from the combined effects of ohmic resistance and reactance.

Total Harmonic Distortion (THD)
Total harmonic distortion is a measure of non-linear harmonic distortion and is given in %. Non-linear harmonic distortions are signals which were not present in the original before the signal was converted by the headphones. These unwanted signals are caused by the diaphragm, whose movements do not precisely move in time with the electric signals that cause it to move. Unfortunately, this is a feature of all electroacoustic transducers. Although it cannot be completely eliminated, suitable steps can be taken to minimise it. However, the user is not interested in why this distortion takes place but in how great the level of distortion must be for it to become perceptible. According to the findings of several research projects, a total harmonic distortion of 1% in the frequency range of 100 to 2000 Hz is imperceptible. Below 100 Hz, the perceptibility threshold lies at 10%.

These earbuds burrow into your head, which won't suit the squeamish. The battery/noise-cancelling box is on the large side considering it takes a single AAA cell, while the price seems optimistic. But there's also a lot to be said for these JVCs.The no...

Bad The HA-NCX77s noise-canceling unit is bulky and the headphones cant be disconnected from it.
Bottom line The JVC HA-NCX77 Noise Canceling Earbuds inspire little complaint. Good sound quality, useful extras, and a relatively low price point make them a fine option for commuters and frequent fliers.
